Default should i be upset or worried

ok i finally got my 98 T/A auto A4 dynoed today. i just got back from the shop and it put down ( on a Dynojet, not mustang chassis) 289.8hp and 306.4TQ. I was kind of upset about those numbers but the guy who knows LS1's very very well from what i hear said that it is a 98 and they generally just dyno lower numbers and it is an A4. the only mods done to the car are a SLP CAI, which really doesnt help on the dyno, Lid, and C/B with no cats. so from what he said that was a reasonably strong pull for the year and not having much done to the car. so i dont know what to think. what do you guys think?? should i be upset or are those numbers alright?? also where do you think i'd be at in the 1/4. im going next month, im just wonderin what you guys think.

also, the cat back is not really a catback, the guy that had the car before me just welded up some pipe to the stock exhaust manifolds and welded a magnaflow muffler in there too, so it is kind of a jankity job.

Sounds about right to me, if its a good shop they will line it up on the rollers etc. perfect and usually that will show some lower numbers than it misaligned, i'd say your good, some of each year were slugs some were beasts and some were just normal, mine dyno'd decent in mostly stock trim, but maybe this will make you feel better, with say a 17% drivetrain loss (that is a lower percentage than normal, but i think anything above 19% loss on an a4 is overkill unless its like a th400 hooked to a 12bolt) your roughly making 349.16 flywheel HP and 368.7 flywheel TQ

The less it will matter that your car is a dud or a beast once you start modding... The more mods the less it will matter.

If you plan on cam and heads etc. I dont think it should matter AT ALL.

Look at the numbers in my sig, its pretty normal, and A4s aren't dyno queens. My firend who dyno'd with me has similar mods on a 02 and put down 306rwhp. Hes got a M6 and I can still beat him in a race so numbers aren't everything.

haha...i like the whole...sounds pretty good for an A4 when..i haven't lost..to an M6..in my car...and ive raced a 02 Z28 M6 stock...when my car was completely stock..i pulled about 2 cars on him...i beat a 99 camaro ss m6 with..about 1200$ invested in mods if not more...

I'm sorry..but...i think A4..ares faster..than M6...because of...1 thing...no matter...how good of a shifter you are ur still a human..and u can make an error.

your dyno sounds on the higher end of 98 actually. there were quite a few that dyno-ed 280 hp. yours is on the higher end. take comfort in that.

but the 280RWHP is in stock form, i have a few things done to mine, so that pretty much shows me that the lid, slp cai, and catback have done nothing for power......
