My previous cluch was the SPEC stgII. drove and felt great, no problems. Held all the way up till around 540 hp & tq., after blower installed then it would slip at top end. Upgraded to SPEC stg5.
Still have the stg II if intrested, has about 4000-6000 easy miles on it.

For all modified engines making more torque than the stage 2 can support. Maintains stage 2 feel for good daily drivability and offers very good wear characteristics, but provides a higher torque capacity. High clamp pressure plate, composite multi-friction carbon-kevlar material, high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.

How much torque can hold the stage 2? I never saw their specifics.
I saw somewhere it's for 450 HP but I'm not sure.
Another question: this of holding a certain torque means that it will slip if you exceed the specified value? Or is it related to a launch trying to get the best ET?
To my understanding once the disks are pressed together you'll need an hell of a torque to make them slip. Is that the torque they specify?

I just talked to Spec and they recomended there stage 2+ for me. Car will be making in the 450-470RWHP range(420 right now) and is daily driven then drag raced on ET streets-they said 2+ is the clutch. I was thinking the 3+, but they said that would be overkill and would hurt the daily driver status.

I got it (from their homepage)
Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 2+ Stage 3 Stage 3+ Stage 4 Stage 5
Torque Capacity: 425 530 620 680 850 700 1200
My 417 torque at the wheel is 450 - 480 at the crank = stage 2
If the table is correct I think 2+ is that what you need (you are making 15% more power than me, assumed torque is also 15% more = 550 at the crank = stage 2+)
EDIT
I just received an email from Spec and they suggest stage 2+.
So now I don't understand their application table and what they suggested to Vortech!

I see spec has a new line ( + ) everyone should buy direct from spec or at least see what the newest clutch out is. A vendor with spec clutches in stock is not going to sell you the newest improved version out, there gonna sell you what ever they have on there shelf. Thats a big part of the reason that spec has gotten such a bad rap in the past

Maybe they are just launching a new product...
Also compare the prices: stage 2+ is more expensive than stage 3 and I guess many people prefer to go with the cheaper and better 3 than 2+.
But I can be wrong

If you order from Spec, make sure its the right thing and it's what you want. if not, they're gonna charge you a 20% restocking fee, and you have to pay the shipping to get it back too. ask me how i know........went through all of this mess this week. almost $100 just to send the thing back.

The Spec Stage 2+ is the same as the old Stage 3 with the hybrid option. They have the same part number, anyways. They suggested it to me as well to back up a sprayed, cammed car in the area of 500 RWHP.
