Default Stock trans, stock 10 bolt, 11's no problem.

It's nice having an auto! I make about 400rwhp 365rwtq with a cam only setup. I have a 4000 stall, some susspension mods and bfg drag radials. I made it into the 11s with a 1.68 60'. I still have a stock transmision(never rebuilt) and a stock ten bolt with 3.73s. I do have a shift kit and a rear end girdle. I was able to drive an hour and a half to Byron, run 11's and then drive back home with my sub bumping and air conditioning blasting. My car has about 100 pounds removed but with my stereo system I am at about full weight still.

Now I'm not saying it isn't risky, I just wanted to post to show it can be done. I see so many of those "how much can the stock tranny take?" and "Is my ten bolt going to blow up?" threads. This is just a thread for people that are scared to do anything because of all the people saying your going to break this or that. Build your car right and you can increase the chances of not breaking things. I get no wheel hop and don't just slam on the gas all the time. I also try to avoid full throttle down shifts. I'm going to keep my stock tranny and ten bolt untill they break. Next up, AFR heads and Bogarts.

I'm there with ya... not officially, but I will run 11s this month most likely.

Except no cam here, and 2.73 gears.

11s at the track, and 28MPG on the way home!

Damn, thats pretty good. Since I put the 3.73s in I can't hook up. I had to use the traction control to get my 60' down to 1.6s. I was trapping 113-114. I think if I put some slicks on I could get my 60' down to 1.4-1.5 but I think that might be pushing the ten bolt too much.

I'll be running 11's next time I got to the track, with a SS4000, and 3.73's, ET Streets and skinnies up front. Should make for a good time. I drive 2 hours to the closest track also.

Congrats on the 11s. People really do under estimate how far the stock tranny and 10 bolt can be pushed. I'll be looking for 9s with mine in a couple of weeks. And I still drive the 120 mile round trip to the track too.

Congrats!

Been there SI with bone stock tranny and 2.73's myself. I don't think you will see a whole lot of "it can't be done". More like "if you race on it long enough, the 10 bolt will break".

What I have said to anyone that asks.......you can run 11's or 10's on a 10 bolt, but have a backup plan to get home. From personal experience....it sucks to be 1 1/2 hours from home tryin to get the car back with a broken rear. It will happen, just a matter of when.

With an A4, if you leave the rear alone as it came from the factory, they hold up pretty well for cars running mid 11s or higher. The 2.73s seem to handle the spray out of the hole pretty well and 3.23s with a 4000 converter are capable of 1.6 60'.

Thanks. Man your cars stance is mean as hell. When I fist pulled up behind you I thought to myself, I hope I don't have to run that guy or I'm gonna get my *** handed to me. How close did you end up getting to your goal? Also I would really like to see the video you got, do you think you could email it to me? PM me and I'll give you my email address.

Got a 11.14 @ 121.9 with a 1.64 60ft. Could not hook that well, but the hott track temp did not help. Figured, when I go to mayheim in morocco on the 22nd, I will hit my goal. I will check the tape again. I know I seen 2 of your runs on there. But not positive if it was of your 11sec runs, Ill check.

LOL! Thanks! We were neck and neck the whole way, every time a shifted, I looked at him out of the corner of my eye to see where he was. Pulled on him the last 100 ft. He didn't look too happy at the end
