Read before you get your LS2 tuned
We learned today that LS2edit changes the security code in your PCM when a new it's flashed by ls2edit. No other tuning software can be used to update the PCM and you cannot even get the PCM reflashed by the dealer. It's locked period. Only LS2edit has this "feature". Be sure to ask your tuner what software they are using and understand the consequences of getting it tuned with ls2edit.
I found out the hard way.

I think you mean LS1.
You have to practically ruin the ECM just to get access to the flash chip.

Is that right...
Now where have you ever seen us lock customers out of their own engine controllers so even the dealer cannot update the vehicle?
Tuner locking is an option for customers/shops who want to protect their hard work against tune stealing or being accidentally over written, not a way for us to keep the competition out.

And no, we dont want to bypass their locking scheme. That just opens the door for trouble.

This only applies to the latest release of LS2edit. Your LS2 tuner may not be aware of this. HP tuners does not do this as explained by Ken

Straight from the horses mouth. Sure, lock my PCM so only my tuner can change it. Everyone should boycot anyone using LS2edit and force them to force Carputing to stop doing this or go get HP Tuners or EFI live. They don't get it.
Sorry for the delay in replying, I was travelling all day yesterday.
After tuning with LS2-edit, all scanners (like Tech2) will continue to work just fine. Whenever your ECM/TCM is custom tuned (by your tuner), other reprogramming software or other tuning software will not be able to read or change the ECM/TCM. However, your tuner can simply return your ECM/TCM to stock, and then all other reprogramming tools will work just fine. Once a dealer (or you) reprogrammed the ECM/TCM with a Tech2 type programmer then it would be back to stock anyway, and you would still need a new tune from your tuner, since you just lost your custom tune by doing this.
Thanks,
Dave @ carputing.com
