I do too. I've used a few different controllers for different manufactures over the years. I've been using The Edge on my personal car as well as one on the shop car and truck.

Tha MAx II is by far the most advanced unit out there. Its SO advanced that you will have the ability to use it in multiple configurations and scenarios. FJO/NX has given the end user so many options to play with that you will sometimes combine two, three, or even four options that will work in conjunction with one anotgher to get the desired effect. Your only limited by imagination. Its a blank page as far as production of power goes. You will be able to make the most power, safest with your given engine combo, octane requirements, and operating rpm range than anything else out there. It can do this because of the type of controls added (RPM based AND time based) and the very fine resolution FJO has put in the unit. Especially with the true curve ramp. I intend to show this on my next dyno. I will attempt to make 700 ft/lbs of tq by 4000 rpm ramping at a decent rate with rpm....then using the true curve options...I will attmept to maintain that 700 ft/lbs as far out as I can sustain it. Hopefully to 7000 rpm and maybe a tad more. 700 ft/lbs at 7000 rpm = 999 rwhp. That is the goal. First I need to run thursday at the track though. After that Ill get to dyno testing for some serious HP production and testing the control the system can give me.
I tell everyone...go to the FJO website and dowload the program and start playing with it. If you understand nitrous and how its best used...you will see huge possibilties open up.
I honestly think that if you used the MaxII along side another time based only controller that you could set things up in such a way that you might run .2-.3 better and probably 3-5 mph more on identical cars that are in the mid 9 second range with all else being equal. And do it in such a way that is more forgiving of the driver as well with thing like the TPS ramp and wideband monitoring that wil shut down in case of lean out.
Its a great system. Its not cheap though. But IMO its the most important part of the setup.

The controllers I am familiar with use pulse width modulation to pulse the solenoids on and off.
Example using the Edelbrock Nitrous controller #71900 - Set Start% = 20%, Set Final% #1 = 40, Set Build Time#1 = 4.000 seconds. The nitrous will start at a 20% duty cycle and then increase to just 40% in the first 4 seconds(This time can be shorter or longer). Then Set Final% #2 = 100%, Build Time #2 = .5 second.
A setup like this would bring the nitrous in very slowly at first for the first 4 seconds then the 2nd power ramp would be very aggressive and go from 40% to 100% in .5 second.
I have seen all brands of solenoids work well on progressive controllers. Some act differant than others. Some will tell you certain brands only work well. I have seen many records set with all differant brands though.
Depending on the orfice size, the coil design, the size of jets, the pressure being applied, and battery voltage each brand/model will function a tad bit differant. I think the key is to choose one and tune to its charactoristics. Some may react better at lower percentage settings while others may have better response at the higher percentages.
I have had people refer to the Progressive controllers as "Dial a Wheelie Controllers" during tech calls.
