Default Hardcore drag racers, 10s and faster, please come in.

What shocks, springs, and torque arm do you use? I currently have HAL R series single adjustable fronts, QA1 275 lb. front springs, HAL single adjustable rears, stock rear springs, and Spohn chromoly adjustable torque arm with front driveshaft loop and poly mount.

I was thinking about upgrading to double adjustables in the rear, but was unsure of which ones to get. I'm kinda leaning towards the Strange, but there's also HAL, AFCO, etc.

On the torque arm, I was looking for something lightweight, strong, adjustable, and either to have a front driveshaft loop or allow one to be added. Is there anything wrong with the torque arm that I have now. Some say for a drag use application, that it should be mounted with a solid mount and have adjustability at the mounting point. Mine only has pinion adjustability.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I'm running AFCO double adjustable coil overs in the front. Wolfe adjustable spring perches, HAL drag springs and AFCO double adjustable shocks in the rear. I use the Wolfe chromoly adjustable T/A it's a very nice piece. I've seen the new Madman T/A which I like alot also.

Pro Stock John, are your rears single or double adjustable? If single, are your 60 fts. consistent? I think my problem is that its hooking off the intitial hit, then spinning as I can't control the compression. That is why I was wanting to switch to a double adjustable. How do you like your torque arm? What springs are you using in the front and back? Lastly, I see youre running -1º pinion angle, I'm running -2.5º, do you think that its too much? I've always thought rule of thumb was, all rear suspension mounted with solid ends use -2º, half poly half solid -2º, and all poly use -3º.

Elite_Hot_Rod, new MADMAN torque arm? Did he revise it? What rear springs are you using?

As far as torque arm goes, I'm torn between the Wolfe, MADMAN, and Alston. According to Wolfe's site, it weighs in at 25 lbs. Anyone know the weights of the MADMAN or Alston?

I run single adjustable QA1's in back, set at 4 or 5 or 6 depending on the track. The stiffer the better, when you make 'em soft you are compensating for the track. One guy I know with a lot of experience really like to have what he calls a 60/40 in back, so slight stiffer than stock. Stock rears are 50/50.

Alton tq arm is ~30 lbs.

I might remove a bit of that pinion angle. One school says that excessive pinion angle just hits the tires too hard.

If I had 29.5's i'd be shooting for 1.29.

You'd have to ask Brian what the differences are, I'm not sure. I really like my Wolfe T/A you can't go wrong with Davids T/A. I'm running the HAL rear drag springs with the Wolfe adjustable spring perches.

HAL rear drag springs? I was unaware that they made rears.

About the torque arms, I was torn between the MADMAN and Wolfe, but I'm liking the MADMAN more as it has an integrated front driveshaft loop. Both torque arms are constructed of chromoly and both have multiple front mounting points. From the pics, the MADMAN looks lighter as its shorter and doesn't have crossbars going through the actual arm. I don't wanna mess with fabricating a driveshaft loop or buying a seperate one, so MADMAN it is. Now if I could just get pics of the new version.

When I get the torque arm, I'm going to set the pinion angle at -2º.

What do you guys think about adjustable rear shocks? Do you think its worth the money? I'll probably end up getting a pair, but torn between HAL, AFCO, and Strange.

I was told to run the rears at 50/50 or stiffer, it's up to you. You should shoot for 1.30 with those big tires you have.

1.30 will be tough with only 407 RWHP. Hopefully we can find 20 or so extra HP with the bigger headers and a new cam.

Pro Stock John, Ben's right, I can have the biggest tire, gear, and converter in the car, but it only makes a little over 400 rwhp. I think mid to high 1.3s is what the car should be pulling.
