ls6 oil pump and timing chain question
People have suggested that I replace my oil pump while I am doing a cam swap and said to use at ls6 styled oil pump. Is there a difference between the ls6 oil pump that I can get from GM and the "ported" ls6 oil pump that places like Texas Speed sells? Also what timing chains would you recomend I've got almost 43k on the clock so I figure it might be worth it to do while it is torn apart

Same pump...TSP just ports the LS6 - which is what you want.
The stock chain holds up alright I heard...what cam are you going with? The LS2 is a excellant choice for a chain, cheap as hell too.

I have the LS2 chain with my setup. Works fine for me! and it's only 28 bucks!! :-D
As for the pump, if you want you can get another one. Might as well get a ported one if you're going to do it. I know a few people with around your mileage that didnt. Your pump should be fine. I think its the 99 and 2k that had pump failure problems correct me if i'm wrong....
Might not be bad insurance though just in case, it's a pain in the *** to install though if you're doing the work yourself....dropping the pan..ewww.

I just want to make sure I got this right. I check today at work(pontiac dealership) the part numbers for the oil pump for a ls1 and ls6 are the same. so I would want to get one that Texas speed sell correct? Also the LS2 timing chain I am assuming is a direct replacement? Thanks for all your help
