Hi Fella's,

I just registered this evening. I took a look at the hotel prices registration site....no thanks. I booked all of my stays at the Hampton Inn using my AAA card or government rate, whichever was lower. Spent the last five hours booking rooms. I may not be right next to the venue, but saved some money.

This is my first Power Tour so I am open to opinions and feedback. Figured I would go all out the first time an join the Long Haul Gang. :)

Break some ice here....

I am 36 years old, live in Newport News, Va. Active military (USN). Chief Petty Officer. The wife and I will be driven the '99 Z28.

I am looking forward to meeting you guys.

If you're going to go better get the hotels booked. Most the ones on the approved list are sold out already and several alternates are selling out too.

I've been to some big f-body events and caravaned with 20-30+ cars. That wasn't to bed. Just a little work keeping everyone together and not getting them lost. For the guys that have been on the Power Tour, would you consider it hectic, crazy, relaxed, fun ect... ? It has to be fun but I'm picturing hundreds or maybe over a thousand vehicles going in and out of places at the same time.

If I go I'll either be driving my C6 or SRT-8.

I didnt think it was too hectic...but there are a ton of people everywhere at the venues. the drive between the stops is ok...traffic isnt crazy untill you drive through some small cities. best part, everyone is very friendly in the south.
something that i didnt have last year that im gonna try to get for this year is a portable navigation unit...we got caught in some traffic last year due to road construction and what not...a navi would come in handy to get you around all that crap.

Ive started a post on thirdgen.org for ppl coming from the northeast, I want to get a group together for the cruise down. as of right now I def have 4 cars leaving from albany, with 3 or 4 more meeting in either NJ or PA. As we get closer we should put together a contact list of everyone going. it would be nice to have 20 cars for the cruise down!

Me and my wife will be going from Harrisburg to Englishtown. My dad and mom will be in his 406 powered yellow 69 Nova SS as well. There will be others with us too, just not sure who yet, but they are F-bodies. My email is 93fiveo@micro-link.net. Keep in touch and we can meet up. I think it would be fun to all cruise together into Englishtown. BTW, I have a black 96 Z28 with SS hood, LS1 SS spoiler, and chrome ZO6 wheels. I might have red on my hood scoop then too. Well, an update for me...

My wife decided that 2600 miles was just too much time to spend in my car, so my Dad is actually interested in going. I'll know this weekend for sure if we'll be doing the tour.

If so, we'll probably leave on the 1st of June and stop over night somewhere in Virginia area, then Friday make the trip down to Florida to start the tour.

If you are interested, Walt(White C6,Wallingford) and myself(Black C6,Lancaster County) are leaving the morning of 6/1. We will probably drive to Charlotte,NC or beyond to stay overnight. We should arrive in Kissimmee sometime in the early afternoon of 6/2. We are going down route 81, so we don't have to worry about Baltimore, Washington DC or Richmond. We are meeting in Carlisle and then take route 81S. Time from Carlisle to Charlotte is about 7 hours and then 8 hours to Kissimmee. If you are interesred, send me an email.

My wife is pregnant also. Wouldn't be surprized if she has the kids (yes, 2 :( ) while I'm on the PT.

I have most of the upgrades for my C6 wrapped up now. All of the body work has been done, the supercharger is on the motor and the seats are in. Just waiting for some more interior parts, Z06 wheels that don't require 12oz of weight for the rear and then bolt them on with the Z06 brakes.

Look for this on the tour -

Some how much detailing do you guys do each day? I usually just goto the local car shows. The ones where you clean it up good before you leave and then just hang out. I'm going to be driving about 1400 miles to FL and then we have about 150-250 miles each day. I'm going to be killing alot of bugs on the trip!

VSGLS1
05-07-2006, 02:15 PM
You will need to wash it in Kissimee. Then if there is no rain, should be able to wipe it down with detail spray daily.

Phoenix 5.7
05-07-2006, 02:26 PM
i usually wash and wax before leaving home, then if possible wash at the first location. some mothers bug and tar wipes are a necessity. i use those and a spray bottle for the bugs. by the end, all the cars are a bit dirty.
