3200 vig or ss4000 best converter for this set up
Cant decide on what converter will be best for my combination. I will be building a 427 with LS7 heads and intake 1 7/8 headers, custom 242/246 duration 600 lift (i)(e) 114 and all boltons. I cant decide whether I should trade my vig 3200 out for a SS4000 with 3.73 gears. Currently I pull 1.76's with the vig 3200/3.23gears. How much better will this set up will be with the SS4000? 3600lbs

I've got a pretty similar motor setup at 3600+lbs; switched from a Vig 3500 to a Yank SS4000. Best on the Vig 3500 was a 10.95 with 1.49 60'; best on the SS4000 was a 10.80 with a 1.43 60'. Felt much stronger on the SS4000 on motor, but I blew through the converter on nitrous and was on the limiter by halftrack.
Sent the SS4000 back to get tightened up and restalled to a SS3600, which should be perfect on the bottle.
Bottom line, the SS4000 felt much stronger on motor and kept the shift extension up around 5800rpm, so that would get my vote if you're not going the nitrous route. Just be sure your tranny can handle it

can't help you pick which one but with my Vig3200 a couple weeks ago i knocked out two 1.66's in a row on 17inch ET streets. This was off idle flashing the converter with a raceweight of 3680lbs. Mods in sig. I've also pulled a 1.69 in high heat with a slightly higher raceweight (due to more gas in the tank). Stock 3.23 gears, mods in sig.
