Default Patriot Heads? What cam to go with them?

I have a 98 Trans Am, my dad has an 02 SS. We are both looking at the Patriot Performance LS6 Stage II heads. I've heard Patriot had some problems in the past, what were the problems, and are the problems still there? These heads seem like a good deal, and they flow quite well. What would be a good cam for these heads? I've done a little research and so far I'm looking at something close to the FM14, is there another cam that you would recommend with around .600 lift? Also, what would be the maximum lift I could go with these heads and what rockers would be needed? Pertaining to the heads, would the Patriot Gold dual springs, stainless steel valves, and titaniam valve seats that the heads come with be ok for a cam with around .600 lift? I'm sorry to ask all these questions, my dad and I are getting very close to picking out some heads and cam so I'd like to have all these questions answered before we make a purchase. Thanks in advance for the response. I noticed they have ported LS1 heads and ported LS6 heads. What's the difference and why are the LS1 heads more expensive.

Patriot does not offer LS6 heads, they have LS6 style heads built from welded LQ9 castings. This makes them cheaper to produce than real LS6 heads.I would recommend the TSP 233/239 cam with the stock rocker arms.

I have ran the F13 with Patriot LS6 heads, it was an awesome combo. I also see alot of people running the TSP 231/237 with their heads also. As far as problems go, that was a thing of the past. Im personally on my 2nd set of Patriot heads, & havent had the first issue. I would highly recommend them. I would just stick with your stock rockers for now, they will work out just fine.

like most people said patriots qualitie issues have pretty much been solved, ther is always a roten aple here and there but every manufacturer has a bad head once in a while, for the most part they get the job done.

Hey whitedevil, I bought the LS6 heads from them last x-mas and they were fine! Sold the car, but they were great. No worries anymore Im sure. I had a 233/239/598/603 113 cam w/the heads awesome!

Last post. I went with the 2.05 valve, but if you go with the 2.02, you can always go with a larger cam than 603 lift, thats about the max id try with stock rockers and 2.05!! Good luck!

check this thread out. Daves uses patriots and his own speced cam and is making some serious numbers and running the ETs & mph to back it up.

I'm running a TR224 cam with my Patriot Stage 2 heads but am planning on going larger this winter.
