Default R.E.V. Valve Spring/Retainers questions

I am getting ready to do a spring swap. I have had the REV springs/retainers on the car for some time now and I considering the engine is coming out, I figured it is a good time to swap considering they have some miles on them and I will be picking up some lift.

Can the REV retainers be used with any other brand of springs?
Thanks.

Stay away from REV's. A few weeks ago my friend popped two of them after 10K miles.
He only has a Z06 cam and high-ratio rockers.
He popped two springs on one cylinder, which broke his valve, which shattered the piston. Ha awaits a new shortblock....

Go with the Comp Cams 918 springs and retainers, tried and true the best springs for the money.

I am looking at getting a stroker soon with a mild cam -f14- so lift will be aggressive. I am getting rid of the REV springs, but would like if possible to use the retainers to save a little on the cash. I know the springs are crap, but I can't imagine the retainers are a weakness, so...can I use the retainers with a better spring?
