that hood unpainted is rice, but im sick of ppl calling everything rice. I am putting my car on a small diet, but i want to keep it fully functional, or close to it. I can guarentee u if i didn't already have a WS6 hood, then i would get a CF WS9 hood. and say 20lbs off the front of the car is a rather big deal actually. what you get for the price is all relative.

The word "rice" is only used by people that are too close minded to look outside of the box. Everything that people call rice today used to be hot during the big muscle car era. Wasn't it mopar and the hotrod trucks that basically started the mad craze with underbody kits? Oh, but then "ricers" took it over so now no one can use it.
There's only one panel that my car will be sporting 100% carbon fibered with no paint over it. If I could, I'd sport carbon fiber stripes because simply that would look badass. People can be ignorant and call it "rice" all they want, I love the look. Plain and simple, and I ain't afraid to say it. If carbon fiber was such rice, there wouldn't be a huge interest in the "Gauging Interest in Carbon Fiber" thread. If you don't like the looks, call it gaudy, but get over the word rice, Fast and the Furious was years ago, get over it already.

I guess the new Z06 Vette and several Ferraris and other exotics are rice too because they use carbon fiber body panels. I love the look of carbon fiber. I'd probably paint most of it and just leave stripes or some other design in bare carbon fiber. I'd like to know how much weight you save vs a fiberglass hood of the same style. Oh...I guess Indy, F1 and funny cars are all ricers because they use carbon fiber body panels too.

I too get sick of everyone calling stuff rice. Why let these little teenage pecker wads claim something to themselves? If it's done tastefully then I have no problem with use of exotic materials such as carbon fiber. As with anything it can be taken to extremes which I don't call "rice", I just call bad taste.
As an example, I put a push button starter in my Camaro about 3 years ago and posted it. Some people called it rice but I can't tell you how many PMs and emails I got asking for detailed install instructions and parts #'s. My arguement then was the same as it is now, if it's good enough for a Ferrari F50 then it's good enough for me.
And as Mess stated above, I started the "Gauging Interest in Carbon Fiber Trim Pieces" and I can't tell you how many people have expressed interest not only in the thread but in PMs and emails.
