My buddy recently purchased a 98 Trans Am LS1 automatic. The car is all stock even stock exhaust. We were trying to figure out what gears it had in it without taking the cover off. I once heard that they came with 2.73's and the optional gear for the auto's was 3.23 and 6 speeds are 3.42. Is this true??

Yeah you basicly got it down but just check the codes on the driver side door.
GU6 is 3.42
GU2 is 2.73
GU5 is 3.23
