Too bad noone makes a shield like the carbon fiber one I'm putting on with my th400. That thing fits like a glove, and weigh's praticially nothing, and is legal. Someone should get on making one of those.

The McLeod LS1 transmission bellhousing will bolt to a small block chevy. However, it doesn't have the provisions for mounting the LT1 pull-style clutch hydraulics, and the LT1 transmission input shaft would be too short to use with it. So in theory, you *could* use the McLeod LS1 transmission bellhousing, an LS1 input shaft, and an aftermarket hydraulic throwout bearing (but you'd have to do some research here - and swap to a push style clutch). I don't know if an LS1 hydraulic slave would work in this case or not.

I'm going to be converting my 79 Z28 to a 6-speed, and may use the McLeod bellhousing to bolt the LS1 tranny up to my small block (then again, I may just use my spare LS1 bellhousing and leave one bolt out as the car won't be raced at all). Have yet to do the measurements for the LS1 slave cylinder vs. one-piece rear main SBC clutch setup though.

I used a blanket before I got the McLeod bellhousing from Thunder Racing. Blanket cost me $190 from http://www.exoticmuscle.com - it will fit an LT1 (has a cutout for the fork). http://akmcables.com/engrear.jpg is a pic installed on my bellhousing.

thanks for the info guys. guess i'll go for the blanket, converting mine to work with the shield sounds like a pain in the ***.

is that going to cause any issue with the transmission heating up? i know most manuals dont ever die from overheating, but i do drive this on some trips.

ok ignore the last question. after looking at the picture all it covers is the bell housing so i dont see any issue.

thanks
