Default Question about catbacks>>>

Working under my car this weekend, I noticed that the exhaust has a couple of areas where the pipes are flat (well, oval) instead of round.

Are the aftermarket ones the same? If so, what performance benefit does the after market version provide? Besides perhaps a better flowing muffler?

My kooks 3" ORY is flat under the driver side. I cant rember if my stock CB had any flat spots in it. A aftermarket CB is 3" compaired to the factory 2 3/4 (I think) and the muffler is much more free flowing.

yeah the stock stuff has a bunch of flat spots( ypipe especialy on drivers side) ...catbacks have none min diameter is 2.5 mandrel bent..I just added the Magnaflow muffler not the whole system cause i already had a system and they claim 12 hp over stock ,some other systems have more . Do the ypipe first thats probably the biggest gain in flow you'll get on top of some hp.
