Default how to make a rear main seal installation tool for free

I couldn't find a tool to borrow for this so i found a way to make one. After you install your new rear seal in the rear cover, take the white plastic ring out of the seal. Wrap the ring tightly with electrical tape (12 times around worked perfect for me). Push the newly widened ring back in the seal from the transmission side of the seal. It should be very tight, but not so tight that it needs cussed at to go on. Put the rear cover gasket on the block, center the white plastic ring on the back of the crank, then push the seal onto the crank.

I wasn't looking to buy one and I don't have any dealership hookups. I called lethal to see if i could borrow their tool but they said no.

I couldn't get the seal on by hand and i couldn't find a loaner tool. I'm not sure if you're implying that a tool is not needed, but every time i tried to install it by hand the lip folded over cause the seal is slightly smaller than the crank.

I didnt use a tool either, but I gently slide one side of the lip over the crank, and then as I rotated the entire seal over the crank, I slowly worked the lip back out with a small nylon hook (much like a curved pick). Your way sounds like an alternate method which is good to know.

No need for a tool. Just use a flat blade screwdriver to massage in onto the crank.
