Default Christmas Gift...Yes or No?

I got a chrome rearend cover from my girls dad for christmas. He knows alot about cars but not the performance aspect of them like myself. There is nothing special about the cover except that it is all chrome and I think its just a direct replacement of the stock one. I wouldn't mind puting it on but have heard bad things about chrome parts as they leak and can retain heat. Also he got me a deep trans pan from b&m holding 4 more quarts. He said it hangs lower and looks good and helps with cooling. Would there be any negative effects by installing this at all. I have no mods other than full exhaust, any feedback on these parts would be appreciated.

I wouldnt install the rearend pan but definitly install the tranny pan.The B+M pan does hang lower but as long as your not lowered it will be fine.I run the B+M deep pan on my car but I dont have a trans temp guage for my car yet so I cant tell ya if it helps temps that much but im sure 4 extra quarts of fluid and a aluminum pan cant hurt.

The rear cover may be a performance cover which will strengthen the rear a bit.

Bob over at exotic told me on the phone that chrome covers do tend to leak. He said if I decided to get a chrome cover to scrape the chrome off from around the inside edges.

I would install the tranny pan and sell the chrome cover and use the $ towards either a Mac or TA girdle. Maybe you can somehow show the Dad how the girdle is better and you just want to take his gift and use it towards something a little better.
