Default How much noise does a cogged belt add?

I will upgrade from my V-2 SQ S-trim to the V-2 SQ T-trim sometime in the spring. I'm thinking of changing to the cogged belt to eliminate the slippage issue. Is the cog a lot noisier than an 8-rib? Anything else I should be thinking of? This is mainly a street car.

I really have no clue how that could be true. Think about it the cam belts on every car thhat has a belt, not a chain, isnt noisy at all. And it takes quite a bit of power to turn a cam. I have heard people say taht they do make noise bt how is that possible? If im wrong please educate me as im interested.

I use to run a Cog set up on my D1-SC kit. Its is very loud, but sounds pretty damn awesome. Too bad I couldn't make it work. I have a old video of it. Let me dig it up and i'll post it. IT sounds very mean.

Cogged pulleys are very noisey, that and the aggressive belts makes tons of noise. Trust me, go find a cogged driven blower car and you'll see what I'm talking about.

My guess would be for the same reason that cam gears make noise...The friction of the gears even though it is a rubber belt...Multiply that by a ton of rpms I bet it could get very loud...Have you ever seen a roots blower on a deuce coupe or something??? they whine noticably at idle...

I understand that the cog belt makes noise by having to force air out of the cogged pulley as it places each individual cog. Multiply that by the speed of the motor and you get a high-pitched whine.

I just wondered how it was in comparison to a ribbed belt and also compared to a blower with straight-cut gears, like most Vortechs.

Right at the 1:29 mark on your vid, is that your blow off whistling as your reving it? That just sounds truly bad ***.
