what all goes into installing a torque converter on an LT1

you have to drop the trans, thats pretty much it. the torque converter will slide in and out easily. just make sure it goes in all the way when you get the new one in there

Yeah either the engine or tranny has to come out to change any torque converter. On my Caprice with some experiance I can have the tranny out working on the ground in under an hour, would expect an f-body to be harder and judging by the question your experiance level is lower so budget a lot more time. It seems like a big project but once done you will have learned a lot and it wont be so bad.
I encourage anyone who wants to mod their car to learn to do it themselves, your mod dollar goes MUCH further like that.
