Ceramic or Metal Matrix Cats
According to QTP their catted Y has ceramic cats. Do the Metal matrix last longer and for $525 should these not be the Metal matrix. Opinions.

I agree that the matrix cats are better and will last longer. Considering the fact that the matrix cats sell for around $400.00 a pair, I highly doubt QTP can sell the Y-pipe for $525.00 with these cats.

Feel a bit upset that my search engine took me to this thread when I was trying to do some studies on 2d matrix barcode generation using jasper for my barcode software. Anyway, I found that I am interested in this kind of forums, I'd like to stay here to learn something.

Durability, I think, depends greatly on the "matrix" details.
The "chore-boy" type packed inserts for Jet-Hot headers
blew out / burned out on a lot of people. I do not know if
the more modern ones have a "brick" or the wireball type.
Metal substrate is going to be less resistant to very high
exhaust gas temps, than the zirconia bricks used in OE
cats. Boosted guys or anyone running wide open for a long
time, will probably put a hurt on a metal-substrate cat.
If you don't keep COT enabled, anyhow. And nobody who
is chasing sustained high output power wants that left on,
not at factory settings anyhow.
