Insurance Question
Well Im in the searching phase right now (98-02 Fbody) and I was just wondering if maybe I should be looking at something else because of the insurance side of it. I will call my insurance company when I get closer to acctually buying one. But it would be nice if some of you could help me out here. Please include the following:
What type of car you have
Age
Driving record
Deductible
and anything else I should know
Thanks

Put the insurance in your 85 year old grandmother's name. Tell them she only drives three miles to church and the store each week. thats what i did mines $209/6months. Sorry thats if thats not what you wanted.

Shop around for insurance. I've already seen a few instances where one insurance company is much lower than the rest based on your profile/demographics/vehicle, because they all weigh different circumstances differently. Shopping around was the only reason I was even able to justify getting an F-Body.

If you're going to buy sh!tty insurance, you might as well have no insurance at all. The ones that are cheaper generally wont cover you as much.
I have USAA under my parents name and pay $240 a month for full coverage.

I'm over 25.
I'm married.
I have a clean record.
I have State Farm.
I pay $450 every 6 months for my '98 Z28. That's full coverage.
I have multi-car and multi-line discounts. The premium would be lower if it wasn't for the fact that I live just a couple blocks away from Chicago. Farther you are from a major city, lower the rates will be.....

Im 19 with a 2000 z28 and i pay like 380/month. I have one at fault accident and have the policy under my own name. I have esurance. I know i am getting raped on my insurance, but the car is worth it. Ill see if I can do better once the policy ends but it was the best I could find.

Clean record (finally )
Full coverage $100 deductable, premium $650/year
Your age(if you're under 25) and your record are going to be huge influences in what you pay, along with your credit rating, and location.
If you really want an LS1 car, look at collector insurance (if you're over 21) lots cheaper, tho you do have to have a different car for a daily, and there are mileage restrictions tho you can find companies with no mileage restriction, or negotiate for more miles, by saying you attend shows in Atlanta (the Gathering) and Dayton (Trans Am Nationals) or the one in Bowling Green

Thanks everyone so far. Its been a big help. My currenet insuance company (Farmers) says when I turn 21 they will wright up a new policy for my current car so Ill be cheaper than $500 a year then. Collecters insurance is out of the question if there are mileage limitations whatever LS1 I buy will be a summer DD. Ill be calling a few companies on Monday (if they are even open) and getting some quotes.

I had Farmers for 8 years and had a clean record. Traded in my 00 Monte Carlo SS and bought the 02 Z28 and they wanted over $1,000 more a year in premiums. I did some searching and found much lower rates, call some companies and get tons of quotes, is worth it in the long run:
69.00 a month
250.00 deductible
full coverage(most coverage offered)
underinsured motorist
I'm 39
clean record
discounts for homeowner and multi car.
