Default Y-pipe doesnt fit...

So i installed the Pacesetter LT's which sound awesome. I got my TSP ORY in and went right to work. everything fits except the y-pipe will not slip into my i-pipe. I assume by the way it looks, i have the Hooker aero-chamber muffler and a cut out on the stock exhaust piping. This means that the stock piping is 2.5" right? The y-pipe wont slip into the I-pipe!! Has anyone incountered this problem?!?!? If so what should i do?

You could have an exhaust shop weld in a peice of 3 inch pipe from where it connects to the ORY and to the cutout which i assume is on the I pipe.

You got two of the same threads here buddy...

I installed my LT's myself too, when I put my y-pipe in I actually already had an adapter pipe that went from the stock 2.5 inch (?) to the 3" borla piping. I think it came w/ the catback that came w/ the car. What size is the I pipe on the catback?

You might just have to find a ride down to an exh fab shap and have em make a pipe.

the problem he is having is the very one i will be facing soon. the Hooker catback tapers from 3" to 2.5" where it joins the factory Y pipe. since the TSP Y pipe is apparently a full 3", you will need to cut the end of the hooker off (the 2.5" reducer) and weld on a 3" pipe to meet the TSP Y pipe.

i am not sure if the TSP has the flare or the cat back end will need the flare. if the TSP is flared, then all you got to do is put on a 3" piece on your hooker to replace the 2.5" and be sure they are still the same length. if the TSP is NOT flared, you will need to either buy a short 3" piece that is flared to mate to another 3" piece, or have a muffler shop flare a regular 3" piece for you.

your other option is to get a reducer to go on the TSP Y, but then you will create a bottleneck at the Y pipe/catback connection, not a good idea

Take both the I pipe and the Y pipe to an exhaust shop, they can expand it to fit. Costs very little.

I had a similar experience on a friends car, took the I pipe to exhaust shop to be expanded.

My install:

pacesetter LTs
Magnaflow cat-back
TSP ORY

First we removed the ex mani's and the stock Y, and left the magnaflow cat-back installed (was already on my car). We installed the new headers first, then massaged the ory together. It wasn't easy, but nothing a little intuition, lots of elbow grease, and 10 minutes couldn't do. I still need to make some more room down there though. The headers or y-pipe knocks a little and its starting to bug the hell out of me.
