Default stock 12 Bolt

What GM vehicle had a 12 bolt in it stock? And could you pull one out of that vehicle and put it in a camaro. I understand there would most likely be a little fabrication involved but what is the difference between a 12 bolt that these companies sell and one you can pull out of a truck?

The factory big block GM muscle cars had 12 bolts in them. It would take a lot of fabrication to make one work in an F-body. If it was that simple just to pull one out and put it in an F-bod it would have been done a long time ago by everyone.

Would it really be cheaper or just easier? Couldn't you just weld the brackets on for all the 4th Gen suspension? Isn't that all moser and strange does?

I know lots of questions.

If you do all the work yourself it may be cheaper than buying one but if you have to pay someone to weld it up for you you won't save very much. I also believe that an F-body rear is narrower than the old factory 12 bolts. After hacking on the housing and axles if you did something a little bit wrong your out all the money you had wrapped up in the axles and housing and you have absolutely no warranty in a homemade rear. Also an aft3ermarket rea will come with aftermarket axles, studs, gears, etc.
