Bought my first LS1!
I just picked up my first LS1 last week. It is a pewter 99 z28, with an automatic. I have been saving up for this car since I was 14, and now I finally have it( im 18 now). It is by far the fastest thing I have driven. After about a year and a half of searching and learning about these cars on ls1tech I am now glad to be a part of this community.

Damn!!! Looks like you were waiting for your car even longer than I was! I still remember how awesome it felt to drive my dream car. Enjoy it and be responsible with that beast!

I live in the suburbs of Chicago, so unless you want to make the trip that mught not happen. Thanks for the replies so far. My dad and his friends have drag raced cars for a long time, and that is what got me into cars. So I am going to take very good care of the car.
I will post some pics. soon.

BTW, we probably don't live very far apart. I'm in the near-north Chicago 'burbs. Check the Midwest section for local gatherings and such.

Congratulations on the car. Man, you waited a long time to get your Ls1, but i am sure it was all worth it. Way to work hard and get the car you wanted with your money, it is a great feeling. Enjoy it, they are blast!!!

congrats...if u dont mind me asking, how'd u save up all the money? Did it affect your child hood in anyway having to stay home because you'd rather put the money towards the LS1 fund? lol once again congrats, i give you props

Congratulations. I'll be in your position soon, hopefully. It's been almost 2 years of searching and I'm still holding out. I also know what it's like to save for a while to get what you want. Good luck.

I saved up the money by putting all of my checks from my job into my savings account. I got my spending money from playing poker, honestly. Im pretty good and made about $1500 in a year, so that helped a bit.
Quick question, the car has t-tops and the driver side t-top dosent have the lock on it. Do I have to get a whole other t-top or can I just replace the lock?

Congrats and welcome to the LSX family!
You should be able to put a new lock in your T-Top without replacing the whole top. If you go to GM to get the lock they can key it to match your key. It's a little more expensive, but is a nice convenience.
Again, welcome!
