Default Hotcam and programming

I am installing a Lt4 hot cam in my 94 z-28, does anyone know if I can run my stock torque convertor. I know a stall will be better but for now I would like to run the stock torque. Also I am going to have my processor programmed in the near future, can I run it for a while with the stock processor and lt4 knock module?

I am gettin the same setup, and we are about to test it out, I will let you know. I have 3.73's in the back also. It is getting a custom computer tune which is needed, and a shift kit, so we will find out.

You can run it without a tuning, but the tune helps balance stuff out...

if he had tuning i bet he woulda trapped at least 109.

tuning is necessary with any sort of aftermarket cam, no matter how mild. Hell our stock motors benefit quite a bit from tuning. As for a stall, you should be able to run your stocker, however I'd invest in a 3000 stall if you're serious.

BTW, I'm not saying to not get a tune, I suggest that you do get at least a mail-order tune. I haven't got one yet cause I do not have or know anyone with a laptop. I guess I could always take my comp outside the house and do it but I'm a lazy SOB.

I ran the stock converter for 4 years with no problems. I absolutely had to have a tune on my TA after the Hot cam install. The thing spit raw gas out of the tail pipes. My computer had no idea what to do with the cam. I am surprised more people are able to run without a tune.

I ran it on a stock converter and stock tuning for about 6 monts driving about 300 miles every other weekend. Ran great and loped like a mother through mids and a hooker cat back.

I ran a 13.4@107 no programming. Got it dynotuned and ran a 13.2@110.....Street tires and bad track prep owned me. But you see the MPH increase. I think i got like 21 RWHP from a dynotune.
