Default Sneak Peek #3: Precision Turbo Intercooler - New style cores

Just a sneak peek at one of the new toys for the car. Precision showed these off at PRI this year. A few people have had the chance to use them for some testing for a while prior to that. This particular core is comparable to the old style refrigerator sized box that everyone else is running. I believe that it's technically rated for ~3000HP.

Thought you might enjoy the pics. For those that know anything about cores, you might be able to spot why it's different than the other cores.

It's different 'cuz the VVVVVVV are closer together (the fins or cooling media).

Those cores look exactly like several late model automotive heater cores welded together.

Those are the Honeywell cores The sizing also makes the math easy. The PT1000 is one core tall, the PT2000 is 2 and then the PT3000 is 3 tall. So you just shrink it accordingly. For most of your cars the PT1000 would package great and fit nearly anywhere.

I would like to see drains on the air side of those. We've had them get 1-2" of water in there from condensation and it's a pain to get out before a run.

Spearco has some cores that are in development that we've seen. They are the size of a large match book or so and are designed to work in the small areas under the intake. They can handle up to 1600hp. For the size they can't be beat.
