Is aluminum worth the extra cost
Is an aluminum flywheel worth the extra money for an LS2 flywheel and LS7 clutch setup? I found the stock replacement LS2 for 200.66 shipped and the Fidanza aluminum for 359.99 shipped. Is going aluminum worth it for street driving and an occaisional trip to the track.

my understanding is that it's not worth it for the average driver. IT is better for autocrossing and stuff like that since the motor will rev faster. However you lose a little ump off the line and during some normal driving when you might have been able to stay in a higher gear around a corner you will have to down shift.

I have one, love it. Will never go back. I have it paired up with a spec stage 4, and daily drive the car. You can tell yourself that you dont want it this and that, but if you get one, I promise you that you will like it.

I've had one for over 30000 miles and would never go back to steel. I had it mated to a spec 3. Now i'm going to put it with a spec 3 plus with new friction plate on tuesday.

No idea, mine went in with a spec stage 4 so I cant really say. Launching on the street isnt a problem, but I have no traction at the track (both on street tires) Makes 2nd gear at 65mph a lot more fun.

The place I took my vehicle wanted $775 for an aluminum Flywheel. NO KIDDING!!!!!!!Needless to say, I was like, where is he getting this price. A mark-up of 15-20% for a shop to order a part is reasonable, but $775......WOW! Are there really $700 + flywheels out there for LS1's?
BTW, this is the same shop that was going to charge me $895 for a center force clutch. This did not include labor, just parts.
I,ve lost total faith in repair shops from here on out....Bunch of Crooks.

I didn't know Centerforce had a new billet Alum-Flywheel. As for them Charging $550, don't you think that is Kinda high for a Flywheel in general? I thought Alum-Flywheels weren't more then $400 @ most. WTF makes a flywheel so special to charge so damm much? I guess this shop was going to install that particular part to match the centerforce Clutch set. IMHO, They are all a bunch of crooks. Over charging up the Ying-Yang just for "So Called" aftermarket crap.
This reminds me of a computer notebook site that had people scratching their heads about. A vender was charging $50, yes, $50 for a pea size glob of Artic Silver. If this isn't highway robbery, then I don't know what is.
Where in the Book of owning a business, does it have the word "greed" underlined?
