TIG - Syncrowave or precision tig?
Im buying a TIG welder for my personal use. just not sure what brand is better. the Lincoln precision 185 is $1650 w/ running gear and all accesories, and the Miller syncrowave 200 is $1843. same options and accesories.
Ive always used a lincoln squarewave 355. and sometimes a miller syncrowave 350 at work. Not really much of a difference.
what is everyones opinion?
thanks.

I've had my Lincoln 185 for about 8 months now. I couldn't be happier with it. Welding thin stainless tubing that I'm fabbing my headers and exhaust out of is a piece of cake with the Microstart feature.

As an engineer who began his career at an automotive supplier where we welded/brazed aluminum, I purchased both Miller and Lincoln equipment for use in the plant. Both are good equipment in general.
My personal welder is a Linde Heliarc 250HF. Overkill for home use but the price was right…. FREE!!!!

All the major welder manufacturor’s have good products and bad products, to a large extent it’s more of a matter of choosing/figuring out who makes the best setup in the range that you’re looking at.

I did a lot of research when going to buy my welder and I ended up with this unit. This machine has almost the same specs as the Miller Dynasty 200 DX and is some regards it's even better. When I called their pre-sales support was awesome. When I had some questions afterwards they were also very helpfull. I ordered mine with a water cooled torch and got a used water cooler from ebay. Some times you can even get machines the factory uses for demo\training on ebay too.
I have welded from aluminuized steel exhaust pipe, aluminum intercooler pipe, to magnisium oil pans with this unit and I am one very happy camper.
I just noticed that a well known tuner in the Miata community also uses them.
