Default On the road again

Put about 25 miles on the hot rod today. Feels great to be out driving it again, except the combination of a new Kirkey set + poly motor/trans mounts definately changed the comfort level quite a bit My 6 year old wants nothing to do with the car but at least my 3 year old is getting into it, even let him turn the key to start it up this morning, I'll change the oil and see what happens at the track this weekend if the weather cooperates - good to be running again..

411 dragway, local track in Knoxville. May hit BG if the weather looks good but I'd rather try it out local first and make sure everything is OK..

Sold the BS3 to a friend of mine local here, he has a pretty stout TT C5 and he needed it more then I did. Still on the 98 PCM

Good deal, you got the car ready before the tracks even open up there. Good luck with the race season this year.

We'll see what happens Kurt, everything seems great with it so far, curious to see what the heads do.

Its already tuned Jer, only changed one thing so it should be easy - good luck Sunday if you go. I know you have been waiting lol.

Dave, 411 is open all year here, if its warmer then 45 its open

Sweet. What was done this time with the combo? Just a refreashing of the shortblock? Added heads? I can't tell.

Oh yeah. WTF is up with the WP making the blingy factor look like crap. I would have had that puppy bead-blasted to shine it up for a good show picture. (lol)

Can't wait to see what the #'s are on this one. Hopefully you hit your goal in the 1/8

We dont need no stinking heat, I'd rather be able to change the spark plugs easily

Richie, the water pump doesnt look that bad in person lol, its 8 years old so cut it some slack

Its a new short block with better connecting rods and the compression is about .5 less, shiny new LS6 block aslo. Also have as-cast Dart 225s on it. I was paranoid with the stock connecting rods in the other motor and the 98 heads it had before were ported back in 2000 plus had stock valves. Should pick up a little but with this stronger rods I'll be able to up the boost some. Not looking to run much faster then last year, just hoping to have another trouble free year. Next fall I'll make it fast, collecting parts now

Its no big deal really, the car was put together once already so I had every correct nut bolt and screw already.

Lets see,

Drove to detroit and picked up the short block and heads 2/18.

Realized I needed different head studs and a rear cover 2/18, put on whatever I could which wasnt much.

Wife went to Seattle 2/22

Didnt get the studs/cover and a couple other little parts until 2/23, finished putting the motor together.

Got sick as a dog (another present my son brought home from school) Friday and Saturday and didnt feel like even looking at the car.

Wife came home Sunday morning, put the motor in the car.

Running 2/28.

Its not all that impressive, back in the old days short block to going the track was 2-3 days max. Thats why I got paid the big money

Good luck this weekend KP.

What is your pulley setup for the D1SC.I had one of the first 10 kits ATI made 5 yrs ago and it was an annoying belt slinger.

It liked to sling the belt at the 1000' mark.

Nice Kev, now get me some times with the smaller pulley. I need to get an idea of what I will be working with next year. Haha

I had the 3rd F-body ATI kit sold, P1SC 7psi kit, FMU and everything lol, stil worked OK though id you didnt try to turn it too high.

I'm using a 7.25/3.7 SDCE 8 rib setup. Asolutely zero belt issues, matter of fact I ran all last year on a used NAPA belt and could have still used it this year but I splurged and bought a new one. Honestly without this pulley/spring tensioner setup I would have never tried another ATI..

I'll try this pully first Andy, I'm on the edge with fuel right now but I dont really wantt o change anything until I make a few passes and see whaere I am at.
