Just bought first Trans Am 1999 - questions
Im about to buy it this week - its selling for 13,000, T-Top, V8, 6 speed, 54,000 miles, leather, sounds like a good deal?
Questions I had
Best Place to get a ram air hood? (Cheapest functional hood)
What maintenance should I be looking for?
Should I get the warranty with it?
My gramps has his own auto shop - and is willing to help teach fix most of the things on my car - gets discounts and everything, but im going to buy it first then show it to him. Im in San Diego, Ca.
Thanks in advanced!

I wouldn't worry about a warranty since most of time they don't warrenty crap plus you need a certain amount for it them to pay for it, but that up to you. If you know how to work on cars don't worry about the warranty.
As for the hood there are a lot of places

First let me say Congrats. The 4th Gen Trans Am has been the most fun and most respected car I have driven. Of course there are many more that deserve more respect but not many IMO.
The maintenance agreement is always a good idea when buying a car if available and if after you have had it for some time they is usually an option to cancel and have it prorated.
As to maintenance... mileage will play a factor and the owners manual will help. I would do an oil change and trans fluid change and radiator flush and rear diff fluid change. So basiaclly change all fluids if you can afford it.
A favorite oil here is Mobil 1 full synthetic but the opinions vary.
But most importantyl before you start modding or listening to us read the stickies at the beginning of this forum. JRP put together a lot of information to help most any one from the beginner to the practiced gear head. So, read that first and then come back.
Good luck and congrats again.

Congrats on the car... For the hood Id check VFN fiberglass their prices are good and have great quality. I got my hood from them and it came out to under 500 w/ shipping. The fitment is also great, good luck and enjoy the car
