Another Should I buy it?
Hello gentlemen...and ladies, I'm brand new to this board as I'm sure my post count gives away. I am a former Mustang owner (I know, I know) and having just recently gotten rid of my '05 I'm starting to feel the need for power again. I've already desided on a T/A, but I need to know what I should look for in a prospective vehicle, i.e: What year should I get? Is it worth the extra money for a WS6? Or even a Firehawk? (I think I already know the answer to that one) I'll be putting some mods on it but that can be in a different thread. Looking forward to hearing your responses, seems like there are some people on here who really know their automobiles. Thanks guys.

If your looking into getting a T/A might as well go with a 01/02 If you can try for the WS6 .The firehawk would be nice to own also but they are more for the Enthasnist if you aks me. I think you would be happy with any 01/02 T/A tho in good condition. Good luck on your Choice. Btw Did you check out the 04 GTO's They can be Bought for around 18k

If I was looking for a car and had the money, I'd go with a later model. Like a 00+
Just gonna me a newer car, prolly fewer miles, less abuse.
Remember, semi stocks the way to buy!

Well the hawk is a little rarer than the T/A or WS6, so you may have some problems finding one.
In the end an ls1 is an ls1, doesn't really matter if it's in a T/A, a WS6, or a Camaro, they are all pretty quick from the factory, get one that's as stock as possible (tho having a lid and catback isn't bad) the later models (01 &02) had some engine upgrades (ls6 intake, and no external egr), but the earlier ones are still good buys
Good luck with your search, and post pics when you get it

Thanks for all the input guys. So basically except for a lid and catback I should look for the rest to be stock? Any reasons why? Once I get it (might be a while) there will be lots of pics.

More mods usually= beat on/raced (not to say if it's stock it hasn't been beat on), plus you never know how the parts were installed, could've been put on by some yahoo who can barely tie their shoes. A lid and catback are pretty simple, and really hard to screw up installing them (tho I'm sure its been done)

The best for performance is definitely LTs. You can go H, X or Y. X and Y are the most popular, and both have their uses, you can do a search on the differences and make up your mind. For headers, there are threads covering that too, but to sum it all up-
SLP- no-no
pacesetter coated- great bang/buck.
hooker/jet hot- better more expensive.
kooks/QTP- best, most expensive.
I'd suggest Pacesetter or Kooks depending on your situation (Hookers, and Jethot aren't worth the extra $$ imo, Kooks/QTP are)
Definitely look for a mostly stock car, and remember- knowing who drives the car gives you a better insight as to how well it was treated than anything else. My seller was a middle-aged woman and the car was bone stock- thats ideal.
As for the WS6 option- it's a hood and slightly wider rear tires. You decide if it's worth your money.

Thanks for all your replies guys. One more question-at the risk of sounding very noobish- I've been reading about an ORY pipe...what is an ORY exactly?

So I know I said it may be a while 'til I get my T/A but tomorrow I'm going to look at a 2002. It's black with the ram air hood that I love so very much and it only has 22K miles on the clock. Asking 24 thou. Worth it?
