Default rpm question

my car boggs of the line riight now with the stock rearend..i wil soon get a 9' but have a quick question..i have a 00 t/a. running a nx wet kit. what is the lowest rpm that i could safetly acitvated the nitrous.. i have a 3,000 in now but was wondering if i could do it at 2,500 to help get me off the line.. also i have a window switch. they don't make pills in the 2,000 range.. if i took the activate pill out. would it activate it as soon as the tps switch was pushed? thanks josh, thats with a 100 shot

If you spray below 3000, you're a nut...

With no activation pill it won't activate. If you for some scary reason other then checking noids want to turn on the spray. You can bend a piece of wire in a 'U' shape to activate the spray with no R.P.M.s

if your running only a 100 shot you could probably come down a few rpms. The 3000 # is not some magical # ..its just what most manufacturers consider safe. Just be aware that as you come down in rpm activation the likelyhood of a mishap goes up. I personally wouldnt go below about 2500-2600 rpm with a wet kit. Others have gone much lower. A 100 shot at 1500 rpm is roughly equal to a 200 shot at 3000 rpm as far as cylinder pressure and TQ. So you get the picture.

The proper way to do it is to get sticky tires and a rea that holds so you can launch WELL above 3000 rpm. But of course that cost money....lol.

Rather than raise the risk of hurting the motor I personally would beef up the rest of the drivetrain so you can safetly launch the car well above 3000rpm, but like Al said, that can get expensive. However, I look at it as upgrades that will be needed eventually anyway so why not do them now.

To answer your question specifically, the 3000rpm recommendation is just that, a recommendation. The manufacturer's all have done their own testing and that rpm seems to be a good starting point for the lowest activation point without a high risk of damage. Of course you could go lower, but the risk factor starts increasing pretty quickly. I definately would not go lower than about 2600rpm.

If you bog when on the wet kit, then you will have a nightmare.
I would keep it at at least 3000 RPM due to you having the M6 tranny.

Activation at low RPM is for those folks with a dry system and an automatic.

I activated mine at 2800 but that was with an A4 and converter. I wouldn't go too much further. It is very risky.
