Planning for new trans.... Which one?

Planning for new trans.... Which one?
Hey everyone. Im planning a turbo build for this following winter. It will be running on stock block and about 450-500 rwhp for the following summer. Then i will throw in a forged block and up the boost. I doubt my 4l60-e will prolly hold even on my low boost at 450 ish rwhp. Even if it does, id feel reassured with something i dont need to worry about. Also note: Id like to swap before mine blows so i can save a grand or so. Now the car will be a daily driver STREET car in summer months. Will need to handle 750 rwhp. I dont highway drive much, mainly around town, hop of highway once n a while, but daily driver. Now i feel i have a few options...
1.) Build my 4l60-e by Rodney
2.) Swap it for a 4l80-e (what would this cost?)
3.) Do an M6 swap with nice clutch (think ill need to get it built too?)
4.) Do a TH350 (cost?)
so what do you think would best suit me?

ok well weight really isnt an issue much to me. Thats why im posting up different options.... i have heard of a lot of probles with built 4l60-e's. Would i need to get a built T-56 to handle this power or would the stock one work? Why is no one suggesting the TH350?

well i mainly drive around in 3rd anyway, why i posted it. Not sure if a built 4l60-e will hold even and i dont want to have to mess around with it if there a chance for problems

Then go for a TH400/350 if you don't care about having a 4th gear and lock up. On the freeway it will be pushing some revs but you only run in 3rd gear anyway. These are better suited for the track like said above.
Seriously, it sounds more like you want a M6 for your wants, look into that maybe.

Yea, if i decide to get my A4 built, it will be from Rodney, so if i get an M6, ill prolly go there as well. Ill jsut need to find someone that wants to do an m6-a4 conversion later. With a good clutch on the street will a stock M6 hold up to about how much power?

Depending on the condition of the trans, and assuming a good clutch AND driver, a stock trans should be able to hold 600hp. This is a EXTREMELY VAGUE assumption due to the amount of variables associated with that question. You can drive the car on the street and beat on it once a week and the trans will go or you could beat on it everyday and the trans could go. I don't really think there is an answer to how much power a stock m6 can hold. Some will say there's broke at 350rwhp, others maybe 550rwhp. It totally depends on the driver skill and driver habits coupled with a good clutch.
Another big problem with the m6's is the hydraulics issue. I believe I have mine nailed good now. I run the stock m6, McLeod twin disc clutch/pressure plate/flywheel/adjustable master cylinder, and a slave cylinder from an 02' SS Camaro. Once bled properly, this clutch feels like stock in terms of pedal pressure. I run a Pro 5.0 shifter and shortened UMI handle and I have nothing but good things to say about the combination.
Good luck
Andy
