Default bottle heater prob

am tring to wire my warmer to my jimmy jams switch panel and i can't get it to turno on. if i wire it to the main switch it works but i want to wire it to one of the other switches on the panel. i am using a relay and wired it with one of the diagrams that are floating around here. i am thinking maybe it's nt working cause the switch has 3 prongs.
Thanks
Eric

whats a jimmy jam switch? anyways if it's a three prong I figure the middle would be the the one that always has the constant power or ground and the other two depend which way you flip the switch jump the power or ground. can you explain how you have it wired to the relay to the switch as far as the relay pins. 30 85 87 etc. going where

Give more detail on the switch that you are wiring it to.

i am thinking maybe it's nt working cause the switch has 3 prongs
Does this mean that you have no wires going to the other 2 prongs?

on the reley the 30 is power from battery to reley.87 is reley to heater, 86 is the ground for the reley. 85 is the reley to the switch. heater is grounded in spare tire compartment.

the jimmy jam panel is the one thatoes in the ash tray.

so the switch has 3 prongs and i can't figure out how to wire it.

there is one prong with no wires to it.

There should be a power, ground , and then the wire to the heater on the jimmy jams switch. So all prongs should be used.

From what you've posted regarding the pins on the relay it looks like you have it wired correctly. On the toggle switch, generally the 3 prong switches are the ones that light up when they're turned on. Only two of the prongs are needed to make the switch work, and the third prong is just a ground that will make the light come on. The two prongs you use are for "power in" and "power out". Generally, the "power out" is the middle prong and the two outer prongs are the "power in" and the ground. The switch only works one way, so if you've connected only the ground and the middle prong then the switch will not work.

Try connecting the wire from the 85 pin on the relay to the middle prong on the switch, and then connect the power wire for the switch to one of the outer prongs. If the switch doesn't work move the wire on the outer prong to the other outer prong and it should work.

I think I've officially confused myself, haha. Hope it was too confusing for you, lol.

Have you removed the switch from the panel? Sometimes there is a diagram on the switch like shown below.

Worse case call Jimmy Jams (They have a website) and ask them.

Another option is buy new switches and replace them with new ones that have the pin out instructions.

Cheers

I couldn't remember which pins were which. I haven't looked at one in so long. I removed my previous post as to not confuse anyone. But most of the switches are usually labeled as to what is what

Look closely at the back of the switch. It should have it on there I would think. One is for the power in, one for the elimination and one for the ground which can be grounded to the metal part of the steering column if you are mounting it in that area. Hope this helps.

since 85(ground) does 86 have power? try bypassing it and see if the relay clicks just make sure your relay works. if it works you just have to figure out your switch. and make sure when you want it on that it gives power to the relay
