Default Pics of my BRE Single Plane Intake!

Hey Guys, just wanted to show off some of BRE's handiwork on my new single plane intake that is being finished up. We're waiting to install this on the 383 and get some back-to-back dyno numbers to verify the improvement over a ported LT4/monoblade setup for a max-effort street/strip buildup. Installed pics will hopefully be available soon! The first pic is of the current setup. So, on to the good part, the pics:

That looks really great, the powder coating is a real nice touch, what hood do you plan to run?

It looks good in person, too. The red, aluminum and carbon fiber go well together. It's too bad only the intake air will see the off-violet areas.

FWIW, the runner lengths aren't all for top end.

Thanks guys. I can't wait to get it on the car in the next week or two and strap it on the dyno. I'm running a factory PCM. We'll likely try a dyno tune using the MAF then try a speed density tune and see what the car likes best.

Old SStroker,
You like my purple intake runners? I've got matching purple intake ports too.

I did not have much luck using the stock PCM with that setup. It layed down 491 rhwp 505 tq at 7200 RPMs when the pcm shut it down. It was making 100 rwhp per 1000 rpm when it shut down and the power curve was climbing up when the pcm shut it down. So...........now going with the FAST XFI so I can spin the engine to 8000 rpms to see the full potential of this setup. Mine should end up 550-600+ rwhp N/A and 900+ with the nitrous. Let us know what it makes.....I would like to compare to mine.

Also....get ready to tune the tip-in part throttle on that thing! It is hell with stock PCM.

Looks like a beast, congrats & good luck, that's the SuperVic right? What hood you going with? I'm considering the VFN 3" LT1 SS hood for the SuperVic setup in July, I think it will clear the elbow/TB.

Tony, my cam isn't that big. The current power peak with the LT4 intake/TB is @ 6,500rpm, so I do have some RPM to play with. Geoff @ Thunder will do all the tuning and I have no doubt he'll be able to tackle any issues that arise with tip in, but thanks for the heads up. My motor was built with planned nitrous use as well but I'm trying to get the most out of it N/A first before we hit it with the gas.

Brettinator, yeah it is a super vic. I have the factory WS6 hood that I'm using. We may have to mill the elbow some to get it to clear after test fitting things and it also may require some minor hood clearancing from underneath as well. I have no plans or interest in switching to a different hood though.

Matt, the price could be best answered by Bret @ BRE. I had some special circumstances and this intake was going to be converted for another board member before he went a different route for his project. I've also had some coatings applied to the inside as well which adds to the cost.

I always wondered how you can use the stock PCM with the single plane setups. How does one compensate for things like TPS and MAP?

dhdenney, There are wiring harness converters for the Accufab/Ford TB that I'll be running so that it is plug and play with the factory TPS harness. The MAP sensor will have an adapter also that allows it to be used but remote mounted. All the other vacuum lines will be kept, you can't see them, but the vacuum ports are attached to the back of the intake elbow. Here is a link to the website that makes the adapters.
