Default OK... i think ill buy a torque converter

well i just got done doing lt's and td's and my mods are in sig. I was thinking of doing an LS6 intake... but i think instead ill do a TC from what everyone on this site says about them. The only thing is that i dont know which one will be best for me and what all needs to be done to install one? I am using it for street use and i DO NOT want to trash the rear end. will putting a 3800-4000 stall on the car hurt the rear end? and do you guys think this would be a good stall speed for me? what kind of performance gain will be noticed? If any? I will be installing it with a friend of mine, what all needs to be done.. i know a tranny cooler, is that all that i need to buy? Thanks alot for the help! I searched the subject but didnt really see any clear answers.

If you continue to use the stock cam, a 3500-3600 stall will be a great choice. I had a Yank TT3000 and with the Nitto's, I knocked off ~1 second from my 1/4 mile time. Torque Converters are like cams, the more you have, the more you want. I have replaced my TC 3 times because of that. The rearend will not be affected by the higher stall. The A4's are much softer on the rearend than the M6's. An additional transmission cooler is mandatory and the B&M 24,000 GVW Cooler is the best choice. It coes with all of the hardware and tubing for the install. What is nice about the Firebird's, is you can install the Autometer Trans Temp Gauge in the AC Vent, left of the steering wheel. The 2 5/8" gauge fits nicely.

i have to disagree with above statment.
put in a 4000 converter with e.t streets, youre rear end could very well go.

I don't recall seeing ET Streets in his statement. The rearend can last through many launches with ET Streets with an A4. I ran my 4000 stall with Drag Radials, dead hooked and the 10 bolt held up fine at the track.

your prolly gonna want some d/r's to hook on the street, which will be tougher on ur rearend... but if u buy b4 the end of march fuddle has there converters on sale for $350, just look in the sponsor sale section. Another thing you wanna consider is future mods, like if u plan on going with a cam at some point, u want to make sure the stall will work with it, so u dont gotta keep changin sh*t
