I just bought a five gallon portable air tank. One of my stored cars in a remote location has 4 flats. How many tires will this tank handle before needing a refill? tires are 14s on a mazda 626

P1V1 = P2V2
Pressure of tank X vol of tank = Pressure of tires X Volume of tires.

Hope that helps. You can also probably do some fancy stuff with temperature to store even more air in the tank.

No way to tell your answer unless you know how much pressure the air tank will hold and other variables.

Also, keep in mind you cant get all the air out of the tank. unless you have a pump off of the tank, the tire and tank will go to equilibrium when connected.

yeah its just basic thermo however, remember also that pv=nrt so if you cool what is in the tank you will hold more.

Go borrow someones CO2 Paintball tank. Two 20 oz CO2 tanks should fill 4 tires easily, heck one might do it enough to get em rolling.

A lot of off-roaders use CO2 or high pressure (3000+psi) nitrogen bottles. CO2 will expand and tire pressure goes up as they get warmer, so consider it as an emergency use.

The other option is to use a batery operated tire pump. You aren't planning to hike to where the tires are. Are you?
