Default Painting wheels

Im gettin ready to paint my ZR1 spokes black, is there any special way to strip the clearcoat off the wheels? Im guessing just fine grit sandpaper like 400? then a prime coat, the gloss black coat and then a clearcoat?

Hand sanding is fine, but it will take forever with 400. Plus it's a pain to get all the cracks and crevises by hand. I media blasted mine with some walnut shells. Then like you said, prime paint and clear.

I used 320 grit on my ZR1'S, but in the tight spots I used what looks like a pen that has fiberglass bristle out of one end. I think it's more or less used on sanding out paint chips and the like. After the wheels were completely sanded I washed and dried the wheels then applied the base coats followed by clear.

From This, Way too much metalflake and polished lip.

To This, Correct Silver.
