Default for those that are running Optima batteries.....

what size are you running? They make both the D75/25 and D34/78 in yellow and red tops. The D75/25 is a bit smaller and will fit with no problems or adaptors from what I have read. The bigger D34/78 is a bit wider and requires a adaptor to correctly mount it to the stock mount.

I just ordered a yellow top D75/35, as I didn't want to take the chance of it not fitting or if it not mounting correctly.

Here's the D75/25 in yellow top:

I just bought a red top 75/35, looks like your first pic - no fitment problems at all.

75/35 - Got mine from Sears. Just went to their site and the red top 75/25 pic doesn't have side posts? Maybe the yellow tops are different.

I got a 75/35 for my firebird about a month ago...now just got a LS1 and got a new red top...went to sears becuase they gave me a 78 ..wrong one..anway we finally after about 30 min figured out that optima changed it. the 75/35 and the 75/25 same thing same ratings..same part # side and top posts..anway its looks like the 75/25 is the newer one mine was made this month....so its brand spanking new....

Well, for openers the Optima is a true sealed battery. You never have to worry about it boiling the water low like Interstate and others where you have to add water in the summer. The Optima has a special design with sprial cells that not only last longer than other lead acid batts. but cannot leak acid and still work even if you shoot them with a gun!!

You can roll over a Jeep and the Optima will still work perfectly while upside down! Not enough? Try leaving a regular Die Hard or whatever sitting for a few months then go try to start your car. DEAD of course. The Optima is famous for being able to start a vehcle that has been sitting around for up to a year and will still turn over the engine. Unless people are cheap asses, (many are) and won't pay the extra money for a battery you can trust, there is no reason not to buy Optima IMHO.

True story. The POS stock battery in my car leaked acid all over the place after just two years. I Optimized that bitch.

Ditto on the covers. I can't stand the yellow color in my engine bay.

Yellow tops are for deep cycle needs. (playing stereos a long time without the engine running) Vehicles like boats, motorhomes, etc. that need to run their batteries clost to competely dead at times, and then charge them all the way back up. (thus being called deep cycle)

The red top is for normal use in cars that just need short cycles of high amperage to start, and rarely if ever get drained completely dead or even close to it. That type of deep cycle will shorten the life of a red top Optima.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I think my duralast is on its last leg, and optima is the way to go. I don't usually draw too much extra current while its off for extended time periods, so red top here I come.
