Default refreshing converter?

getting a pro-race tranny rebuild done on my 4L60E, just wondering if it's really necessary to send my St3800 back to Yank to be cut and cleaned up? How much does it usually run and how long does it take to get it back? thanks

It's always a good idea to have at least a cut and clean done when doing a fresh trans. IMO it's cheap insuance.

Exactly that. I had one checked recently just to be on the safe side.

It means they take the convertor and cut it open at the welds. At which point they clean any debris inside of it out and inspect it for wear. Freshen up what ever is bad and reweld it back together.

thanks for the info. i was tempting to do it, but my tranny rebuild ended up being $350 more than I had anticipated. I guess I'll test my luck. I bought it used with 2K miles and I've probably put another 8-10K miles on it myself with no issues

If I were you I would check with your builder. If he says no problem then I quess it's his baby. I would just be afraid of wrecking a new transmission.
