I'm having troubles finding a place to mount my NOS 15lb bottle somewhere in the trunk of my camaro. I'd rather not spend more money on the bracket to mount in the spare tire well but then again the gas tank is directly underneath the space behind the backseat so that is not an option. My car is driven everyday and the back seats are used so taking out the backseat is not an option. Anyone have any ideas?

well you have 2 choices if you don't want to buy the 860 bracket you could either mount it in the truck well where the t-tops go or you could mount it in the spare tire well.if you go spare tire well then you might want to get the beracket or fab your own like i did. simple to make just get a peice of 1/4 inch sheet metal 2 feet by 1 foot and cut it accordingly get 4 L brackets from a local hardware store. mount them to the side of the trunk well and on the spare tire bracket. mount the plate and the figure out where your putting the bottle brackets and you should get something like this.

Mount it right behind backseat, on the ledge right above where the T-tops go...it would look badass too, thats where I plan on putting mine....

you can't because the gas tank is directly underneath the fiberglass. So that's out of the question unless i wanna risk drilling holes on the top of the tank.

what you do is you get a piece of wood maybe 6x8" and about 1/2"-3/4" thick....place it under the carpet and mount the brackets to the piece of wood....when you bolt the car seat teathers back on the carpet hold it in place...it wont go anywhere.
hope this helps....

you really only have 4 places to mount your bottle...on the hump between the back seats....in the t-tops section....on top of the gas tank....or the spare tire compartment.

how hard is it to mount on the hump between the 2 back seats.....and where woudl you run the feed line...imr eally interested in putting it there fro easy bottle opening

yeah but remember this is a 15lb bottle. It's way too damn big to fit on the tranny hump or in the t-top trunk

I turned the carpet back and welded the heads of four small bolts to the metal floor. They were positioned so the bottle brackets would slide right down on them. I pulled the carpeting back in place and cut small holes in the carpeting so the threaded part of the bolts would stick through, put the brackets over the bolts, screwed the nuts on the bolts, then put the bottle on the mounts. Total time was less than an hour from start to finish.

the tranny hump is what I was talkin about - the space between the rear seats.

Not to mention I have a t-top rack right there in the way.

I did the same thing mentioned above with the spare tire well and the brackets... It's super easy, and you can get some automotive carpet from Walmart and dress it up so it's pretty nice looking. I kept my rear speaker as well. The lines route easily through the little rubber plug underneath the spare tire well. I've seen 15lb bottles on the tranny hump before. Should be able to search it.
