what's up with my speedometer gauge?

whats up with my speedometer gage? Hey, i wanted to know what might be the problem thats causing my speedometer gage to go up and down. I may be going 70 and it'll drop down to like zero and just bounce back and fordward. It tends to do it on hot days most of the time, because when its cold it rarely does it.

speed sensor is probably going. I think it was about $100 to get mine changed out. My speedometer would start bouncing 5-10mph above and below the speed I was going. It would settle down for a little bit and then start up again. No problems since the sensor's been changed though.
