all im going to say is if it looks to good to be true it probably is... people spend A LOT of money on shortblocks ($5k+) to build a solid motor...

I don't think it looks too good to be true IMHO. Just cause people are spending more doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Golen's shortblocks are cheaper than most but I don't see guys having trouble with them.

Is it just me or does it seem like this post is advertising.
Not trying to insinuate anything but the low post count and registration date just make it look like a shameless plug.

Yup I'm whoring. That's why I'm asking about Allen Motorsports and touting Golen. Golen is great and that's well known. I'm asking about Allen Motors cause the parts look good, the feedback's good, the price is better than Golen. But I want to know if anyone has any personal experience with one of these Ebay motors. Make sense?

Or maybe you'd rather I get screwed like you did with APE?

Ouch...man you went for the ***** right off the top.

Like I said I wasn't trying to call you out...the post just doesn't come off well.

There are a ton of vendors that sponsor this site and they are all very reputable and well known within the LS1tech world.
As you have already pointed out, I got burned by a vendor but this site did everything it could to help all of us out and get things back to normal.
Call it what you will but things worked out in the end and I actually got more engine for less money when it was all said and done.
I incidentally went with HPE/HK Enterprises.

Anyway…best of luck with the engine/builder you decide to go with.

Sorry dude. See, that's what I'm looking for too, more engine for less money. HPE is the poop no doubt, but I'm hoping this Ebay guy is pretty good too. If I can find some kind of affirmation as to the quality of if his work that is. lol

Well an Eagle rotating assembly is going to be a little over 1/2 that $3000 so I wouldn't say it's "too good to be true." $700 crank + $600 rods + $500 pistons is $1800. Then you got the splayed mains makes it ~$2100 and we'll say $400 in bearings, bolts, and misc. Add in labor and machining costs and that's less than $500 profit. Seems reasonable.

seems like a good deal to me too, I have never heard of them though. If you pay with PayPal and get screwed just let paypal know and they will go after them like ravenous dogs. Happened to me in the past, got screwed over on some headlight motors and module.

Splayed main caps are 90 bucks from Jegs. Summit sells the complete Eagle 383 forged kit for 1950 bucks or so and includes bearings, rings, forged pistons, pins, 4340 rods, 4340 crank and all needed for the short block build up. Now we need ARP main bolts, less than 100 bucks. Say $2150 total including profit on the parts. That leaves $850 for machining/assembly including profit for this service.

They're an Eagle and ARP dealer so they get good prices. I'm figuring about 500 bucks in profit like DHdenny did.

That's the easy part, now if I could find some folks on here with some feedback on this company, I be set.

I'll check on the Paypal thing and see if they're one of the companies that are covered by their money back guarantee.

Paypal has come through for me twice. Granted it wasn't $3000 but they really helped me out.
