94-97 LT1 in a 93 Z28
ok i know the basics of what the swap will take:
keeping the 93 intake manifold and TB
oil pressure sender is diff on the 93 then 94+
i have no emissions so all that crap is gone and i dont have to worry
will be keeping the 4l60(700r4)
gonna swap the 93 heads onto the new shortblock
i am very doubtfull i will find a 93 lt1 for sale, so i need to know the ins and outs of what it will take to swap in a 94-97 LT1. im pretty sure that most of the sensors are the same, if its a 95+ ill have the vented opti then, yay lol. what else will i run into? ill be stealing the 24lb injectors if i happen to buy a whole engine also. just lemme know what changes i woulkd have to make, and all swaps.

thanks, but what is there i already knew. im needing to know what i need to do to convert a 94+ lt1 over to the 93, i know i will need to swap onto the new lt1 the 93s intake manifold, TB, fuel rails(im gonna take the 24lbers off the lt1 i get tho unless i find a 93). i need to know what sensor differences there are between the 93 and 94-97, what i need to swap to make it work on the 93 wire harness u know. i know for one the oil pressure sender is down near the oil filter on the 93s, and on the 94-97 i think it is behind the intake manifold.

I also have a 93z that I bought from a friend. He and I put a 96 lt1 in it and it just recently just stopped running. From what I know the intake, tb, and fuel rail are 93. The car ran like a champ but it was throwing codes. It is now at the shop cus I have no time to fix it. I am curious if there was something else that shoulda bin swapped to 93 other than what was done.

I swapped the entire 95 motor/tranny/harness/pcm from air filter to tranny tailshaft into my 93 car. Just a few modifications on the wiring, specifically the harness plug ins on the passenger side threw the firewall and the ones that connect on top of the passenger side fender close to the pcm. I used shbox website for the wire diagrams and such.
I didn't use the 93 intake manifold, but I'm using it this time when my motor goes back in (BTW Joe, I'm thinking hard about that OHIO Crank). Shouldn't be anything to change there, just hook up the fuel lines. I also swapped the OBD connector to the 95, just had to cut a few wires and splice it in. I tune and datalog with my laptop connected to it with no problems.

I pulled the codes and got 15 21 43. 15 is a temp sensor (low temp indicated) 21 is tps (signal voltage high) but my voltage is perfect. 43 is knock sensor. Now I was told that I need a 93 knock sensor and can't use a 96 that's y its throwing a code. Is that true or false?

I just talked to my mechanic and he said the car should still run. Run like dog crap but still run. If I'm lucky I can get it to start but it idles high and eventually dies and won't start till the next day. My fuel pressure is good. Opti is fairly new along with msd wires. It has a new icm and coil. So it should be getting spark and fuel is good. I have no clue y it won't stay running

You say you put a 96 LT1 in a 93 car right? Obviously you kept the 93 ecm and wiring harness since your codes are OBDI. So, what exactly in the car is "96" and what is original? If you kept all your original sensors and just plugged them into the 96 motor, you shouldn't have any problems. You make it sound like you swapped motors, all was good, and it just recently started having problems. So was it running good after the swap? SES light on prior to this problem?
I believe that's true about the KS. I know some years aren't interchangable. Car should still run fine with a bad KS, it will just retard timing.
I've never dealt with a bad TPS or temp sensor, so I don't have experience with that, but with the combination of all 3 codes, I could see it running like poo.

My car is a 93 z28 and the motor is from a 96 trans am that had a broken trany. The computer and harness is 93 along with the intake manifold, tb. No plugs or sensors we're changed. (That I know of). The ses light was always on and it drove fine all last summer for my friend except It always idled high. He took it off the road for the winter, we put a rear in it, and then I bought it. Drove to my house fine, put it on the road, drove all day and by night she fell on her face. idk what went wrong. And I have no idea what's wrong with it. I can't figure anything out. Fuel pressure is good, opti, msd wires, and spark plugs are fairly new, and the icm and coil are brand new..

Best thing I can tell you is fix the codes and then see where you are. Get a knock sensor 1st, sense you definitely need that. Then you can test the TPS and Coolant temp or just replace them. I assume all the sensors off the old 93 motor are long gone?

O yea lol. My friend bought the car with a blown motor 8 years ago and him and his father ripped it apart and then it just sat. All we had was the intake and tb. We have no idea where the rest of the motor went. Now I'm curious about the computer. are they known to take a crap? I know the 92-93 lt1 computers are different and a lot of ppl say there garbage.
