Default SLP headers: do they really make LESS power?

I know the SLPs have clearance issues, but I got a killer deal on them and couldn't pass them up. I'm putting skid plates on them so I should be fine. But do they make LESS power? I'm just making sure that I'm not at a disadvantage.

I have not really heard of them making less power, even so if the did it would not be anything huge maybe 1 or 2 rwhp.

No, they make power just fine. All LTs make around the same power.

SLP lt's perform great the reason why people dont like them is because of the driveablility factor b/c they hang down so low

My brother makes good power with them, as said above, if you dont mind the drivibility factor take the deal.

They do make some ugly turns, and have a short collector. I've heard of people making more power when swapping out the SLP's for something else, but don't know how legitimate this is. They don't look to be all that well designed, but I honestly couldn't see a BIG power difference between any of the headers.

People don't buy them because of GC and the Y-pipe. The merge and bends in the Y suck IMO. I have a set of SLPs with a custom Y with flowmaster merge. I like them. Instal was a bitch and they fit pretty tight but no banging or anything. Plus all stainless and I got a killer deal.

Bottom line is if you can get a deal on a used set, go for it.

i just got slp lt on my 01ss they make great power and sound (ory). I did the reasearch and knew about the clearance issues but never thought they would be that bad, if your car is a daily driver i suggest STAYING AWAY from slp, just too much of a pain, anything over a small and i mean small speed bump your gonna have to take it at a huge angle and then your still gonna rub, ive had mine for a couple of months and i am already saving to get a set of kooks or qtp like everyone here says to get, and yeah BADSZ28 i totally agree very poor designing

damn well i retract my last post , for that price i think i could live with it for a while just be careful dude but you will love the sound... and power they make....also if you havnt invest in a cutout, i got the electric one best money i ever spent....when i first heard my new headers with my catback(flowmaster) i was very but after i got the cutout welded on and wired the switch... it sounds like a different car..damn thing screams at wide open.just my.02 good luck on the install
