Default Z51 C6 vs M6 SS at the strip

This is not to start a fight of words. I thought you all might have intrest in seeing these two cars race each other since many of you all come across LS1 camaro's daily. The mods of each car are in the video and the new dyno #'s of the C6 with his mods in the video are in the comments section.

Thanks for the run Red. It was very fun and close. I still don't regret getting rin of the camaro for the vette. I am happy on how the car is running with such little modification.

First, nice run! Second, those gears would give you an edge on most...nice by the way.

Third...4:30s in a stock rearend, you are brave, but I like it!

So a cammed/geared/bolt-on SS edges out a bolt-on C6.

Ya I expected that. Good show you two.

thanks when i ran 4.10's my best was a 12.09 @ 118.1mph on a 1.93 60' but that was during the winter and the temp was like 58 degrees. This video was just a few weeks ago and it was almost 80 degrees...........so i am hoping for 11's at 119mph (since the 4.30's i have run many 1.78's) with a relatively small cam stock heads in a full weight car limited 60' times due to the stock 10bolt and 17" wheels.

The LS2 is a monster for sure! In a car that weighs a mire 3100lbs with the upgraded tranny in the Z51 package The car in this video has more rwhp and rwtq than i and all he has is the LT's, X-pipe, CIA!!!

I have read about the other tricks that can be done to the LS2 to reach 400rwhp without a cam! So cam it and it should reach 425-435rwhp easily.

Yes, I agree with the C6 with the Z51 packages are awesome machines, I have driven a friend of mine a few times and it is sweet. I think I can take him, but it does pull like a rocket.

What cam are you running?

Yeah, that is small. I larger cam and you will pull 11s easy with a good set of tires.

I have had my z51 dynoed and it put down 378hp for those of you intersted. Gears do make a car seem lighter like in reds case. Those 4.30's are helping red out a lot, but at the same token those gears in the z51 tranny work great too. My MPH was actually higher at the 8th which begs the question of what might happen with a little taller gear since I drop down to a 1:1 in 4th and don't have anymore awesome pulling gears like 1-3. On the interstate our runs our close and he starts puling at the top of my 3rd gear.

I am sure that when you get higher in the 100s, around 1230-130mph you pull on him and he runs out of gear...I could be wrong, but that is my guess.

you are right about the "out of gear" since i have to shift out of 4th at 120 which is 6700rpm..........and I am sure he would pull on me if I shifted to 5th
