From bone stock to drag racing!!!!!
I have a 94 Z LT-1, I want to start drag racing the car instead of just using it for street performance. What would be a good start up modification to the engine, transmission, and rear end. I want to also put a narrow rear end in the car also.

Well if you want to go all out and drag race, it depends on what engine you want to run. you could stroke out and turbo your LT1, that is what I would do first. Or you could strip out your interior and put a roll cage and subframe connectors. either of those two is what I would do first

Based on your post, I advise you to slow down, right now. You have no idea what you are getting into and haven't done any research for yourself. Yes, it's one thing to ask questions, it another to ask everyone else to do everything for you.

I agree, you need to plan out what exactly you want from your car, how fast, how much you want to spend, then when you get started think it over again. Its 90 percent planning and 10 percent execution

But, in the spirit of being helpfull, this is what you are looking at,
9" rear end ~$2500
TH400 with stall and trans brake ~$1500
Suspension ~$1800 if you go all out, probobly more
Wheels and Slicks ~$1200
and you're still making stock power at this point. You could do a big Cam with some ported Heads and maybe see 400whp assuming you have proper supporting mods, after tunning you're probobly looking at $4,000 when its all said and done (That includese the supporting mods I was talking about) After that you can either stroke out the bottom end to a 408 (which will require a new head/cam combo to make more power, so another $2,000 for that, and probobly $3,500 for the bottom end) or go turbo, which could easily hit $4,000.
People may tell you it will be cheaper, but it won't be, especialy if you have to pay some one to do the work.

get rid of the weak links first, then get the suspension worked out... then start working on getting more power.

With an otherwise built car, I don't see it being impossible to get a 10.9 with 400whp, especialy a stalled auto with gears and some weight reduction. I would say something like an LE2 package and either a supercharger or turbo will get you where you want as far as power is concerned, but seriously do the rear end and transmission first.

Go out to your car and start ripping the INT out... Get it down to just the dash and driverseat. Then order yourself a new drive line, and suspension, and install all of that good stuff Those are the necessities of a bad *** track car, and while you do all of that, you can spend the time also thinking about the motor, thats what I would do atleast.

I'd talk to the dudes at ls1speed, they have a few nice 8-9 sec cars with custom turbo setups.
