Angry Just to clear this up... tires!

OK I just bought my WS-6 and like all new WS-6 owners I intend to do some serious damage to those factory tires (through burnouts and showing off) . I have full intentions on getting new wheels BUT for the mean time I still need to have the stock ones. So I decided to get a price on what this fun would cost me and the shyt eating grin turned to dread when I was quoated @ 280 - 340 PER TIRE! I have 18's on my last car and the low pros for that car only cost me 175 a pc. (had a deal, reg 215). So here is my question..... I kno the Eagle F1's are factory but should I keep them or go out and switch them all up with a nice set of high end tires that I can no doubt get for less than the price of two factory tires? Are these tires on the car because they offer the best possible traction or is are the just on there by some shyty contract....

IMO you found out the easy way, through your own volition. I noticed a hole in my sidewall that went too deep for comfort. Looked like someone literally took a drill to the side of the tire. Had to replace it with about 80% tread left and when they hit me with the price I almost cried. Replaced it and ran them till they started showing belts. Hehe woops.

I'm running on yokos now. Definitely doesnt have the hard launch traction the Eagle F1s had but an all around ok tire. Launching its not too bad, I just have to launch it about 300 rpms lower or they go up in smoke. IMO, go with a different tire. From what I've read there are better tires out there for that price range. If you want to save on money theres obviously cheaper options too. My yokos cost me 130 each. I'm sure someone will chime in with actual brand names and tires, I dont remember em, I'm no tire guru.

Hmmmm haha i'm glad I didnt have to find out the hard way. Well anyone know what tires with out getting crazy in price, stick well. That launch is important, why else have the car? Should I get something that is big on channeling water cuz I also want better wet traction than my stock tires have. I had Falken Ziex tires on my 01 Grand Am. They stuck like GLUE. not sure if they will work with this car tho....

Who quoted you so much?

you can buy Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 for 211 from Discount Tire
and Goodyear Eagle F1 GS for 252

there is a $11 mounting/balancing fee + taxes as well

personally I would consider something like the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW
@ $172/tire

They also have the Nitto NT 555R Drag Radial for 145 on special

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...75&ar=40&rd=17

all you should have to do, is print out the discounttiredirect price and the local stores will match the price

Is your car going to see snow? If so a summer performance tire will be a no go. If not then their are plenty of great tires. BFG KD, Michilin Pilot Sports, Goodyear GS-D3...

tirerack.com-------------------------------------->

And get hired at a tire place for a week.
Or make a friend who works there.
I chose the latter.

I got my Nittos when they were going out of stock everywhere so the prices were higher, but they were only 160ish per tire. Best tires i've owned.
