Would you buy a car that has a dirty car fax?
I'm looking at a car and come up a little concerned after the carfax.
4 months after it was bought new it was hit from the right side and tipped over. This is what concerns me the most, is there anything i should really check or worry about? I'm guessing if there was major damage after it was that new it would have been totaled. But, I don't know much about insurance claims as I've never had one.
In 01 it was reposessed.
The last owner shows 2 minor damage accidents report. I talked to a previous owner and he said the car was hit in the rear quarter and a new one was put on.
Just collecting from what my parents have said, they say never to buy a car that's been in a major wreck because it will never run right again. What do you guys think?

because its been in a major wreck and rolled i vote no, not only that but its also been reposessed which means if they didnt have the money to make the payments that could also mean that they didnt have the money to maintain it, so in this particular case i vote, no, find something better

Well being that it was 4-5 years ago I'm guessing if there were many major problems they would have been apparent now. Maybe i'm just eager to make excuses because I want the car lol, but if I should really be that concerned I will just pass it up. We're going to double check the VIN because when i confronted the guy over the phone it was news to him.

I think any car you wreck bad enough to flip is a pass. You woulda had to been doing some really stupid stuff for that.

We're going to double check the VIN tonight, I hope this isn't right. I really want the car lol, it's close, it looks nice, and doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it.

If the car has been driven for 4 to 5 years and everything works well it could be ok. Just keep in mind the price needs to be right too. If it is the same price as a vehicle that has not been wrecked then you should pass. If it has just been rebuilt and no one had used it I would be more concerned. A car that has been fixed correctly and is at a good price can be a good buy

In most cases I would agree with the opinions stated herein BUT I own a 95 V6 firebird that has a salvage title.
It was totalled at one time. The car looks great and drives fine and it only cost me 2 thousand bucks.
If it drives out fine and looks Ok (and I mean crawl over every inch of it, topside and bottom) AND the price is right (this is very important) then I wouldn,t have a problem.

See my thinking is, the roll was 11-12 years ago, if there were any major mechanical problems they should have shown up by now. The price is pretty darn good.
There really is no way for me to take it out, lift it, and inspect it at all angles. I could do it here, but the car is 5 hours away from me. If you drive 5 hours you're more than likely just going to buy the car because of the trip, even if there are a few flaws.

I vote Nada
Might drive fine for now.. but later on down the line somthing might happen... if you got the spare cash to gamble... Then go ahead and buy it, just be careful in the car, you put your life at stake when you enter a car so make sure you always treat your car good and important for you make sure your car treats you good.

My car got hit in the back and dented the quarter panel. Me and a friend repaired it with a Dremel and a Welder, and you can't tell it happened. That was a dent though, not a roll over. Roll over messes all kinds of stuff up in the frame. You might not think so, but all the metal gets stressed in a way that it shouldn't. The car is a Hardtop I assume... if it's a T-top, then hell no.

its kinda funny how peopel say no way.....without knowing much info.
lets say if its a ncie lookign 95z28 and the guy wants 1500 or 2k for it i would probably get it.
if it were priced at 5-7k i would pass for a clean car.
