Default New pics 5-10-06 (!molding, detail etc)

Finished spring cleaning for the most part. Interior is cleaned, conditioned and vacuumed. I gave the body/paint the following process.

Wash with NXT and Ultra Plush Mitt, 2-bucket method
Claybar
Wash again
Dry with absorber
Scratch X
Deep Crystal Polish
NXT Tech Wax

The glass, wheels and tires are NOT cleaned in these pics. Car is de-badged (for now) and the side molding is gone. I still have to Ice the car to see how it improves the shine. I wanted to get the wax on there for protection since the Ice apparently doesn't help much.

All by hand...

The "Trans Am" outline is still there, I left it as a place holder for now:

Dirty wheels and no tire shine...

The curve in the door makes me look even shorter

Crystal clear...

And my favorite...

And you think you have wheel gap!

There is more to come, including !mud flaps (wheels have to come off for this), tips, tint, stripes and some new stainless stuff.

Short clip added:
http://home.neb.rr.com/soulburner/My%20Ride/Clean.wmv

Just to show the whole car is basically a mirror now...

Yes, really need to take the mud flaps off, but overall a very clean and nice looking ride.

Thanks

The Converter is probably my favorite part about the car. I wouldn't ever go back.

Paint looks nice and swirl free, good job getting the !swirl mod

FWIW keep the mud flaps, but use the big spring clips to keep them on when you're at the track, helps keep the rubber off the rear quarters, open the clips and remove the flaps when you're done racing

Yeah the Scratch X did part of that for me but I am not swirl free. You probably would have to examine the car in person to see it though.

Entire car, intense rubbing...probably spent 4 hours on that step...

Added a short clip to first post.

What's responsible for that shine? Deep crystal polish? I used NXT wash and wax also. Mine is not as shiney, but it is silver so maybe it doesn't show as much.

Your car looks amazing.

would it be a good idea to strip the wax off the car befor the Scratch X or can i just wash and Scratch X over the 2 week old NXT already on it?

Has the car every seen a claybar? If not start there, after a wash. I'm not quite sure about the wax but I used the Scratch X after I had it clean and bare with no protection on the paint. Remember this stuff won't get rid of most of your scratches but it will cut down on a few very light imperfections and reduce your swirling to give a clearer finish.

The shine comes from a little of each step actually. Extremely clean (claybar) and worked/nourished (scratch x/pure polish) paint helps the wax on top really make the car look good. The fact that its black just shows it off more.
